ZEBULON, N.C. -- The Cleveland Indians announced that Carolina Mudcats left-handed pitcher T.J. House was named the Indians' Minor League Player of Week for April 9-15.

A starter for the Mudcats, House pitched two outings for Carolina, going 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA. The southpaw dealt 13 innings without an earned run and fanned 17 hitters. In his first start of the season on April 9, House shut out the Wilmington Blue Rocks over seven innings. He allowed two hits and struck out nine. Against Winston-Salem on April 15th, the 23-year-old was hit for four unearned runs early. However, he settled in for six innings, allowing one walk and striking out eight. House is second in the Carolina League in strikeouts (17) and averaging 11.8 strikeouts per nine innings.

House enters his third season in the Carolina League, and first with the Mudcats. He was the Indians' 16th round selection in the 2008 First-Year Player Draft out of Picayune High School in Mississippi. In 2010, he was tied for third in the Carolina League in starts (26), fifth in innings pitched (135.2) and eighth in ERA (3.91). In 2009, he was tied for fourth in the South Atlantic League in starts (26) and ranked fourth in the Indians Player Development System in ERA (3.15).

The Indians Player of the Week award recognizes an individual performance from within the Indians Player Development System and will be announced each Tuesday through the end of the Minor League baseball season. All players from the Tribe's Minor League affiliates are eligible for the weekly award.
